After 10 years of trying and three 4th places, Tantrix inventor Mike McManaway from New Zealand realised his dream of winning the World Championship! This year, it involved nearly 170 players from 25 countries, including 23 from the UK & Ireland. Mike beat GB no. 1 Neil Jenner from Colchester in the QFs. results >

The 2007 British Open, held at City University in London on 24-25 March, was won by Zoltán Németh from Hungary. Canterbury's Angharad Taylor was the top UK player, winning the bronze medal. Hungary's Attila 'the Hun' Mikulan won the title with Knaresborough's Rob Morton to top UK player in 4th place. 29 British players and one Irishman entered the 8th online World Tantrix Championship. It was five years since the UK had last had a World Champion and this year there were nearly 200 entrants from 28 countries, but we ended up with all four semi-finalists! Many congratulations to new World Tantrix Champion Neil Jenner from Colchester who beat York's James Else by 5 games to 4 in the Final. Croydon's Julia Schwarz took 3rd place by beating Belfast's Simon Wright in a very close match that went to a tiebreak. results >

1st Hungarian Open Table Tantrix Championship (Budapest)7 Aug 2005
Mauro Lazzara from Aberdeen (the player on the left in the Tournaments picture on the home page) finished 4th in the Hungarian Open, just missing out on a medal. Germany's Susi Rieger shocked the hosts by taking the title.

Hungary's Laszlo Szobonya won the 2005 British Open Championship which took place at the Mind Sports Olympiad Cambridge event on 7-8 May. Esther Purnell from Radstock won the 'Rising Stars' gold medal with Malcolm Preen from Harlow taking bronze and Attila Mikulan from Hungary won U18 gold. GBR A battled through the knockout phase to come 3rd in the World Team Championship, losing only to top seeds HUN A who retained their title. GBR B and GBR C also reached the QFs, in the face of strong competition from more than a dozen other countries in the group phase, in which Ireland's Mark Harris captained the Rest of Europe team.
